China’s Northern Rare Earth Group, the world’s largest rare earth producer, has launched the nation’s first smart production line for micro-sized disc-type permanent magnet motors at its New Materials Technology Innovation Center. The pilot line’s debut commercial product—a 3-watt, 6-millimeter-thick axial flux motor—boasts 60% smaller size, 80% lighter weight, higher torque, and lower energy consumption than counterparts . Co-developed with Germany’s FEA AM via Sino-German R&D cooperation, the motor targets electric vehicle smart cockpit thermal systems, consumer electronics, drones, and robotics.
